The Congress for New Urbanism is founded by a group of enthusiastic architects, and its first annual Congress is held. One hundred persons attend indicating that the issues of urbanism are important, if not yet widely discussed. |

In Lafayette the Dugas family makes over 200 acres of ranch land available for sale along the Vermilion River.
Robert Daigle puts together a group of investors to purchase and develop land; at the group’s request Daigle becomes the lead on the team.
Steve Oubre, Architect Southwest, is added to the team to develop phased master plan. |

|
The master plan for The Village of River Ranch is finalized as are building codes. Seven architectural styles related to Louisiana history are selected to be represented throughout residential and commercial real estate. |

1998
|
The first phase of development is begun, and the response to the release of residential lots is so positive, that three phases are released.
Phase I includes home sites along Richland, Hopewell, and Worth Avenues.
Phase II includes home sites along Roswell Crossing, Worth Avenue, De Gaulle Square, Stone, Arabella, Winslow, Ellendale Boulevard, and Bradbury Crossing.
Phase IV includes home sites along Princeton Woods Loop, Southern Pines, Woods Crossing, Ravenswood Streets and Richland Avenue. |

1999
|
The first commercial business opens in The Village of River Ranch. The Village Market offers a gathering place adjacent to the Town Square for residents to collect mail, enjoy casual lunches, and select from an upscale gourmet deli and wine selection.
Additional home sites are made available including Phase III with property along Settlers Trace, Woodsboro, River Ranch Boulevard, and Silverstone Road. |

Phases VI-A and VI-B of residential development have their final plats developed with lots along Richland Avenue and Princeton Woods Loop. |

2001
|
The first tennis courts in The Village of River Ranch open for use along with the Pro Shop for resident use.
Phases IX, VII-A, and XII-A are finalized for residential use with home sites along Princeton Woods Loop, Pinewoods, and Richland Avenue.
Commercial phase VIII is finalized and development upon the mixed use property named The Crescent commences; 158 apartments sit atop boutique shops and offices. Property is also identified for the City Club at River Ranch. At over 68,000 square feet it is the largest property use in the Village to date.
Office Park Phase I is finalized and identifies sites for professional services located along Camellia Boulevard.
Phase X-A of development identifies property for up to 13 tennis courts and a resort styled pool to be built along Camellia Boulevard, and the concept for linking these services to the City Club is conceived. |

2003
|
First National Bank opens along Camellia Boulevard as part of Commercial Park Phase I. Residential Phase VII-B is finalized with property along Princeton Woods Loop.
Design for Office Park Phase III is completed with property identified for the First Trust Building, additional commercial space along Camellia, and the future site of Camellia Tower III that will be anchored by Whitney National Bank.
Phase X-B of development designates property for Mill House Condominiums. Camellia Boulevard extends through The Village of River Ranch, and the bridge over the Vermilion River opens. The Village of River Ranch is now easily accessible to existing commercial and residential centers in Lafayette. Crescent Apartments at River Ranch open for residents. The Village of River Ranch crosses 1,000 in resident population. |

Additional residential phases are finalized including XII-B, III-B with lots along Richland Avenue, Elysian Fields, River Ranch Boulevard and Settlers Trace. Brickell Way is finalized with a unique bricked walking path winding throughout its homes, framed by picket fences. |

2005
|
Residential phases XIV-A, XIII-B include additional home sites along Elysian Fields, Biltmore Way, and extension of Brickell Way, Roswell Crossing, Arabella, Villagio, and Cellar Court.
Market Phase II is committed to businesses including Bonefish Grill, Ann Taylor Loft, and Jos. A. Banks. Emergence of national chains in The Village of River Ranch is a major milestone
Camellia Tower I opens. It is known for its anchor business: Onebane Law Firm. Other professional businesses and ground level commercial use are also in the Onebane Building. Camellia Tower II is finalized with location to be at the corner of Camellia and Kaliste Saloom, with an anchor resident found in Iberia Bank. Mill House Condominiums open for residency; these are the first condominiums in the Village of River Ranch.
Office Park Phases V-A and IV are finalized and identify additional commercial sites along Settlers Trace and Camellia Boulevard. |

Residential Phases XII-C and XIV-B are finalized with additional development along Richland Avenue, extension of Stonemont Road across Camellia Boulevard, additional extension of Elysian Fields towards the Vermilion River. From the Elysian Fields extension sites along Beaulac Lane, Littleton Crossing and Pendleton are platted. |

2007
|
Camellia Tower II opens in December and includes Iberia Bank, Van Eaton and Romero, and Darnell Sikes offices; others are still opening.
Carriage House at River Ranch opens. It includes 21 guest suites, 37 luxury residential condominiums, and ground level retail and commercial.
MainStreet at River Ranch opens with 172 apartments and 66 condominiums above ground level retail space. This area now offers a great destination for shopping, dining, and evening entertainment.
At the end of the year the Village of River Ranch has approx. 500 single family detached residences, 400 multi-family attached residences.
December 31, 2007: the Village of River Ranch has over 2,000 residents. In December Market Phase IV begins opening with Fresh Market opening its doors. Market Phase III begins opening with Another Broken Egg Café and other shops. |

Office Park Phase V-B will be built out as commercial and mixed use space along Settlers Trace.
Phase XIII-C of development finalizes the plan for a completed Brickell Way, Capri Court, Levison Way, Roswell Crossing and Biltmore.
The Banks Phases I-III includes development of a fourth Camellia Tower, as well as residential space and mixed use space along Camellia leading down to the river. Commercial Park Phase II on Camellia Boulevard includes the future development of Camellia Commons and the Inn at River Ranch.
